About the role

The Car Nerd is looking for a friendly, organised and dependable Receptionist to join its extremely busy, family-run automotive business in Cabra, near Newry.

Working Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm, you will be the first point of contact for many customers and an important part of the business’s day-to-day operation.

The role will involve welcoming customers, answering telephone calls and messages, responding to enquiries, managing appointments, recording information accurately and assisting with general reception and administrative duties.

The Car Nerd is a fast-moving and well-known business with a busy workshop, technical training, industry events and a strong online presence. The right person will therefore need to be comfortable managing several tasks while remaining friendly, calm and professional with customers.
You do not need to be an automotive expert. What matters most is that you are approachable, organised, reliable and willing to learn how the business operates.

What we’re looking for

Qualifications and certifications

Good communication, organisation and basic computer skills will be important for the role.

Minimum experience

Previous experience in reception, administration or another customer-facing position would be helpful, but all suitable applications will be considered.

Previous industry background

Previous experience within the motor trade would be welcomed but is not essential.

Someone with experience in a busy reception, office, retail, hospitality or other customer-focused environment may also be well suited to the role.

Specific skills or manufacturer training

No manufacturer or technical automotive training is required.

The successful applicant should have strong communication and customer-service skills, good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to record and pass on information accurately.

They should also be comfortable answering telephone calls, using email and basic computer systems, managing appointments and remaining calm and helpful in a very busy working environment.
